Sparkly Gold Backdrop for Amy and Ray’s Reception in Dripping Springs, Texas

What’s a wedding without a bit of sparkle? We LOVE when our couples choose the sparkly gold backdrop for their wedding because it makes everything more fun!

As glamorous as this backdrop is, when guests step into a sparkly booth they somehow know it’s time to let loose and get silly. We don’t make the rules, but we’re here for it!

One of our favorite things about having a photo booth at a wedding is that it gives the bride and groom a chance to snap some fun, joy-filled, and downright goofy photos with their families and friends. After posing for professional photos all day, they get to relax in the booth and make memories with their guests.

Plus, the photos from the booth are great keepsakes for the couple and their guests. Amy and Ray chose a custom photo template with greenery that perfectly matched Amy’s bouquet.

Of course, we do have to point out that the professional photos are absolutely gorgeous. Scroll down to see more from this wedding captured by the amazing Anastasia Strate.

Amy and Ray tied the knot at Canyonwood Ridge in Dripping Springs, Texas. This venue boasts gorgeous hill country views, a breathtaking wedding chapel, and a large reception hall. The gorgeous florals were designed by Wild Bunches Floral. We’re obsessed with the fireplace mantle piece!

Top Spring Wedding Color Ideas in 2023

The new year is right around the corner, so it’s time to think about spring weddings! We love springtime weddings because the color options are so fun.

In the last few years, we’ve seen a massive shift in wedding style when it comes to color. Gone are the days of minimalist and muted wedding aesthetics. Bold and bright is in!

For spring weddings, that means you get to have fun with your decor, springtime blooms, stationery, and whatever else you want to add a splash of color to at your wedding. Keep reading for our top spring wedding color ideas in 2023.

Lavender

Purple has been having a major moment lately, and in the spring of 2023, lavender will be all the rage. Here are a few fun ways to use this color:

  • Add real lavender sprigs to your bouquet, floral arrangements, and boutonnieres

  • Dress your bridesmaids in hues of pastel purple

  • Wear an amazing pair of lavender heels

  • Use lavender toss bags for your getaway

  • Cover your cake in gorgeous purple flowers

Whether or not you actually incorporate real lavender flowers, there are tons of ways to use lavender in your color scheme. And since lavender is also a hot flavor right now, you can use it in your catering to really amp up the theme! Everyone loves lavender lemonade, lemon-lavender pastries, or a great lavender cocktail.

Pink streamers from our sister brand, Pop & Drop

Bright Pink, Dusty Rose, and Blush

Orange might be competing with pink, but that doesn’t mean that pink is going anywhere! There are more popular pink shades than ever. In fact, in the last year, we’ve seen some gorgeous all-pink weddings!

Pink hues can up the romance and whimsy at your wedding. There are tons of ways to pull in more pink, from your flowers to your decor. Getting married around Valentine’s Day? Mixing pink and red has been a huge trend lately too, so why not go all out?

If you love softer pink shades, hues like dusty rose and blush are also here to stay in 2023. They’ll be a top choice for brides who want to ditch all white and go for an unconventional wedding dress. Delicate pink colors are also perfect for spring because they’re gorgeous with sage green and other seasonal shades!

Bright Orange

Despite what Elle Woods thinks, orange might actually be the new pink. Seriously, this color has had an amazing rise in popularity. Everyone loves deep orange hues for fall weddings, but brighter oranges will also make a huge splash in spring weddings next year!

Bright orange is so cheerful, and it fits in perfectly with the wedding trends we’ve seen lately. From disco balls to feathers to neon signs, the trends are all about turning your wedding into a party that no one will forget. Bold color choices are part of that, which is where bright orange comes in!

If a bright burst of color isn’t your thing, coral, rust orange, and gold will also be popular options that are in the same family. Another fun way to add more orange to your wedding is to use vintage amber glasses in your table settings.

Dusty Blue

Move over, navy! Dusty blue is the new favorite blue shade for weddings. While blue isn’t traditionally a spring color, it will pop up in tons of springtime weddings this year. From bridesmaid dresses to table linens, dusty blue is a gorgeous pop of color that still feels delicate.

Dusty blue is also a versatile color that blends well into so many pallets. It works well with silver, darker blues, green, pink, and cream.

Bright Yellow

Just like bright orange, bright yellow has had a huge resurgence in wedding trends lately. In fact, mixing orange and yellow is on trend too!

However, we’re not talking about the pale canary yellow shade that was popular a few years ago. This time around, couples are going bolder with sunflower yellow. If you’re going for a rustic look, go warmer with honey yellow. For a minimalist look, daffodil yellow is a paler option that still invokes the springtime vibe.

Customize Your Wedding Photo Booth for Spring

Are you planning on having a photo booth at your wedding? We might be biased, but we think they’re a must-have! Photo booths offer a fun activity for your guests to do at your reception, and they get to go home with a custom keepsake from the big day.

There are tons of ways to customize your photo booth to match the spring trends in 2023. Here are a few ideas that work with Oh Happy Day photo booths:

  • Choose a photo booth backdrop that matches your spring colors, like lavender, pink watercolor, or rose gold

  • Dress up your backdrop with bright streamers or balloons

  • Add a custom neon sign to your backdrop

  • Go with the flower wall or boxwood wall to bring in more spring elements - you can even add more flowers to the boxwood wall!

  • Instead of a backdrop, request a custom streamer wall and use bold colors

One of the best things about throwing a springtime wedding is the endless color options, and you can pull them into your photo booth too! From streamers to blooms, you can create a custom photo booth backdrop that brings your springtime dreams to life.

5 Great Bat Mitzvah Themes and Bar Mitzvah Themes

Throwing a bat mitzvah or bar mitzvah for your child is no easy task these days. It’s an important spiritual landmark in their life, and they want to have a celebration with their friends that they’ll remember forever.

One way to make the process easier is to choose a fun theme that the guest of honor and their friends will love.

Your theme will guide your decision-making when it comes to food, decor, location, activities, and other aspects of the party. How do you pick the perfect theme? We’ve got you covered with the best themes for bat mitzvahs and bar mitzvahs below!

Video Game Theme

Does your kid love video games? Throw a party based on their favorite gaming universe! For example, with the new Mario Bros movie coming out, why not throw a Super Mario Party?

Everyone can dress up as characters from the franchise, and you can set up real-life versions of the video game. If you want to go all out, you can create a real-life obstacle course with mushrooms and gold coins.

To keep this idea simpler, host a Mario Kart tournament and theme up the decor and food. Who wouldn’t love a Yoshi cake? Another approach is to easily create real-life Mario Kart by having all the kids dress up and go to a Go Kart track. Mamma Mia!

Old Hollywood Party

Roll out the red carpet for your teen! They’ll love posing in a red carpet-themed photo booth with all of their friends. You can even have the attendants act like paparazzi!

Style their bat or bar mitzvah after the Oscars and ask everyone to dress up like their favorite Hollywood star. The guest of honor can roll up in a stretch limo just like the stars. From the decor to the food, every aspect of this party should be glammed up to be worthy of the stars.

Halloween Theme

If your bat or bar mitzvah falls in October, why not take advantage of the season and throw a massive Halloween party for your teen? Everyone can dress up in devilish and witchy costumes and you can deck out the venue with skulls, cobwebs, and skeletons. A historical venue with medieval candle chandeliers can even double as a haunted house!

You can also serve spooky drinks in goblets and cover the venue in lanterns and pumpkins. The guest of honor and their friends will love it!

Music Festival Party

If your teen is entering their music festival phase, why not throw one just for them? Hire a great band that can play all of their favorite songs so you can keep the dance party going all night long! Turn your child’s favorite lyric into a neon sign and attach it to the photo booth.

You can decorate the venue with boho details like giant pillows to sit on and tapestries. Don’t forget the feather earrings and hair extensions!

Summer Tropical Theme

Let’s be real, we live in Texas, so it’s almost always warm enough for a summer tropical-themed party! Go all out with fun tropical drinks served out of coconuts (virgin, of course), tiki lanterns, and bold beachy colors.

You can also deck out the venue with palm fronds and bamboo and serve a chocolate fondue bar with tons of tropical fruit for dipping! There are also great games you can play at Tropical parties, like limbo. You can also string up some hammocks for the guests that want to chill out!
For more tropical theme ideas, check out this amazing party we got to be part of with our sister brand, Pop & Drop, for TikTok Austin!

The Perfect Photo Booth for Bat Mitzvahs and Bar Mitzvahs

No matter what theme you choose for your child’s big bat or bar mitzvah bash, no party is complete without a photo booth! Our luxury photo booth backdrops can match any party theme, and you can customize them with themed-up props!

Tech-savvy kids love the Selfie Booth because they can take the photos themselves and immediately send them to their phones for social media sharing.

You can also add on a balloon garland, streamers, and custom signage to make the booth your own. Your kids and their friends will love posing in the booth, and the photos make the perfect party keepsakes!

Final Thoughts on the Best Bat Mitzvah Themes and Bar Mitzvah Themes

At the end of the day, the best bat mitzvah or bar mitzvah theme for your child is the one that makes them feel celebrated and honors the momentous occasion. Whether you go all out or keep it simple, they’ll love partying with their friends and celebrating their rite of passage!

Roaming Photography at Kellen and Alex’s Rehearsal Dinner at Horseshoe Bay Resort in the Texas Hill Country

We brought roaming photography to Kellen and Alex’s amazing rehearsal dinner at the Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horse Shoe, Texas! The resort is a beautiful lakefront golf resort that sits on Lake LBJ. It has sweeping views of the Texas Hill Country and insanely luxurious amenities.

Kellen and Alex used the Cap Rock Pavilion for their shindig, which features a gorgeous lawn for the cocktail hour and an expansive clubhouse for their dinner. They went all out with live music and toasts, and we can’t get over their huge custom A+K brand! We took as many pictures in front of it as we could because it was such a special and unique statement piece.

Guests donned their cowboy hats and boots for the party, and the laid-back vibe made it easy for them to let loose. We think that throwing a giant relaxed rehearsal dinner party is a great way to take pressure off the big wedding day.

With roaming photographyooth.com/roaming-photography-ohdb, we bring the photo booth to the guests. The event venue becomes the backdrop, and we focus on capturing candid moments from the night. However, we do also group guests together for posed shots, and they have the option to send the photos to themselves instantly.

For special occasions, having a roaming photographer encourages your guests to put their phones down and focus on the celebration. Want to book roaming photography for your upcoming event? Contact us today to party together!

Luxurious Black Photo Booth for Meredith and Zach’s Wedding at the Historic Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas

Meredith and Zach became Mr. and Mrs. Rehmert on August 14, 2021, at the historic Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas! We love historic venues because they add so much character and charm to wedding receptions.

When it came time to choose their photo booth options, our black sequin backdrop was a no-brainer to match the upscale and classy setting at the Driskill. It’s the perfect backdrop for a black-tie affair!

Meredith and Zach’s wedding had so many jaw-dropping elements. From the romantic three-tier cake to the absolutely stunning floral arrangements, it was breathtaking. The bouquets and one-of-a-kind floral arrangements were courtesy of Bouquets of Austin, who always create impactful masterpieces.

The bride and groom put together the sweetest personalized gifts to welcome their guests to Austin. We love when the couple goes the extra mile to take care of their people! The gifts were complete with personalized Driskill Hotel cozies, custom cookies, and of course, bottles of Topo Chico and Tito’s. Nothing says welcome to the capital of Texas better than that.

Jenny DeMarco, an Austin photographer we love to work with, captured all of the details of the wedding beautifully. Take a look below and be prepared for your jaw to drop!

Congratulations to the happy couple - it was an honor to be part of your wedding! Looking for a luxury photo booth for your upcoming event? Contact us today so we can chat!

Our response to covid-19 in the world of photo booths

Updated on 9/21/2021

A note from our owner, Kelsey Harrison:

As the impact of COVID-19 continues, I wanted you to hear directly from me about the mitigation efforts that Oh Happy Day Booth has enacted to reduce the risk of infection of our team members, our clients, and their guests. My focus remains on supporting our Oh Happy Day Booth team, while at the same time doing my part to preserve the health, safety, and well-being of all those with whom we come in contact.

I think it is extremely safe to assume that everyone has been significantly impacted by COVID-19 in one way or another. The entire photo booth industry relies on a healthy events industry, and the events industry relies on the ability for us to be able to come together as a community and celebrate special days. As we look toward the future and anticipate what it holds for us, we at Oh Happy Day Booth work every day to ensure the level of customer service our clients are accustomed to is not diminished.

We continue to closely monitor and assess this evolving situation, and any changes in company policies and procedures regarding COVID-19 precautions will be based on scientific studies and official reports, and any changes we make will be updated here. I can’t emphasize just how much I am itching to get back to celebrating in full swing, and I am making sure that we are able to get to that point as safely as possible by expanding and refining our safety policies. If you have any personal questions requirements or preferences, please email me at hello@ohhappydaybooth.com and we will do our best to accommodate within reason.

  1. Masks // In addition to their usual all-black and white attire, our staff will be required to wear masks at all times while on the property for an event.

  2. Portrait Booth and Glam Booth activations // For the foreseeable future, our team members will monitor the photo booth from afar, keeping an eye on the booth at all times, but limiting direct interactions with guests. Your point of contact will always know where our team member is located, and the team member will be there in a flash if something happens like the printer paper and ink need replenishing! We love our clients, and care about their guests, and want to be there to support them on their big day and by physically distancing our team members from the booth itself, we are able to make sure they are healthy for our couples the following weekend as well. To accommodate this distancing, we have changed and optimized our start screen graphics for these services so the photo booth process is seamless and straightforward to ensure guests are able to use the booths without the hands-on assistance of a team member.

  3. Sanitized Selfie Stations // Our Selfie Station rentals will operate as usual, but our staff will sanitize everything before the event begins and at the end of the rental.

  4. No props // We know this is a significant bummer, but there is no feasible way to properly sanitize every prop between guests, so we will be foregoing props for the foreseeable future. Clients who have this upgrade as part of their package are encouraged to choose another upgrade as an alternative!

  5. Photo guest books // For clients who would like to stick with their photo guest book, guests can pick up a clean pen from one bin and put it into one labeled ‘used’ when they are done. Pens will be sanitized between events.

  6. Sanitizing all equipment before and after events // All our equipment will be sanitized before and after events, and all our boxes and equipment will be sanitized inside our storage facility as well.

  7. Increased pay // All of our team members providing services at events are doing so with the utmost caution to ensure your guests have a great time. During this season and for the foreseeable future, Oh Happy Day Booth has increased their hourly rate without raising client costs. If you feel so compelled, any and all tips given to the booth attendants during events will be retained by the team member working the event, and would be greatly appreciated.

What we are requesting from our clients:

  1. Masks // Please encourage your guests to wear masks. This has been proven by the CDC to protect other people from getting sick if you are sick, even when asymptomatic. This is a really wonderful way to respect your hardworking vendors whose lives depend on being able to work events every weekend.

  2. Set up location // If it is possible to put us away from the dance floor and other major foot traffic spots, that is ideal.

  3. Following the CDC’s minimum standard health protocols // We know rules are no fun, but they’re here to protect us all. Please encourage your guests, planner, vendors, and venue to follow appropriate guidelines regarding large events.

Roaming photography + retirement party

We had an incredible time with our roaming photography at a surprise retirement party!

Emma DeCaro (the brains of the operation) wrote a wonderful recap of the event and we wanted to share it on this blog post:

“On Saturday, August 3rd, Mr. Vise thought he was going to lunch with a former student, but instead unsuspectingly walked in a ballroom filled with 300 former students, band parents, and colleagues.

roaming photography

A student from each of his six schools gave a short speech about what their time in Mr. Vise’s band meant to them. Afterward, we presented him with a plaque a show-shirt collage and signed copy of the score to An American Elegy by Frank Ticheli.

austin celebration

One of his students baked three incredibly special cakes, cake balls, and her famous fudge marble cookies (everything tasted as good as it looked). One of the cakes had 35 stars on it— each star corresponded to the school colors and number of years he served at each school.

To conclude the afternoon, the band Sometimes a Legend, featuring Lake Travis graduates, played amazing music while everyone greeted and took pictures with Mr. Vise.”

instant sharing photography

To commemorate the special occasion, we had our roaming photographer take pictures of Mr. Vise with his past colleagues and students in front of our navy sequin backdrop! We wanted the attendees to have time to socialize with each other and the guest of honor, so roaming photography was the perfect option! Abbie Hillis from Abbie Cole Hillis Events planned and organized the party and it went off without a hitch! We had such a great time at the event and we want to wish a huge congratulations to Mr. Vise on his retirement!

Building a Moodboard with Olive & Belle Events

In a world with Pinterest, have you caught yourself losing focus on what you envision for your wedding day? We’re here to help make your wedding feel a little more like you! So you’ve pinned thousands of ideas -- now what?! We’re going to break down the moodboard building process so your visions can go from been-there-done-that to omg-this-feels-like-us!

1.     Choose colors. When selecting colors, keep both you and your partner’s preferences in mind. A good way to do so is by taking note of the color in your home and closet. There are no rules to how many colors you should select, but we think it’s best to start simple and grow from there. Start by selecting 2-3 main colors and 1-2 accent colors. It’s always important include neutrals within the palette, too!

mood board wedding

2.     Gather non-wedding inspiration images. These can include interiors, patterns, textures, street style, art...anything! Choose images that inspire you and fit within your color palette. Take specific note of the way the images make you feel and start to understand what it is that attracts you to the photo. This can help when selecting vendors that match your style later on.

 3.     Select a few wedding inspiration images. Your wedding should reflect you and your partner, so keep in mind these are simply for inspiration and not to take exact ideas. You want to keep your moodboard pretty general in this way since the focus is on an overall feeling, so try not to get too caught up in specifics. Think about the feelings, photography, colors, and expressions when selecting wedding-related images. If you have your heart set on something specific, though, go ahead add it!

pinterest wedding

 4.     Choose fonts. Be as picky as possible! Look for a font that combines both you and your partner’s style while reflecting the kind of impression you want to give to your guests. This font will help set the tone of the event and can be used on all stationary goods and signage. Are you hosting a more formal event? Look for a serif or cursive font. Going for a more casual or laid-back vibe? Sans serif is a good way to go!

 5.     The final step is our absolute favorite! Add personal verbiage. Take parts of your love story and turn them into phrases. Pay close attention to the words you select so that they match your vibe. Thesaurus.com is your best friend here! If you’re having a hard time articulating your love story into words, start by doing a brain dump! Write down all inside jokes, significant locations, major milestones, and the timeline of your relationship.

Mood board

The finished product should be something you and your partner love! Hang it on your refrigerator and look at it everyday for a week or so. If there’s anything that bothers you when you look at it, make changes. Once you’ve decided you love everything about it, move forward in selecting vendors that align with your vibe and decor (and a photo booth backdrop, of course!) that complement your style. Sending your moodboard to vendors from the beginning can help both you and the vendor determine if you’re a good fit!
