Lauren and Keegan's Wedding

We spent our evening at the charming Green Pastures, part of Mattie’s, in South Austin for Lauren and Keegan’s wedding and we couldn’t have dreamt of a more sophisticated night!

The newly married couple decided to have a map out on display so their guests could flag where they traveled from, showing us their guests showered them with love literally from all over the world. In lieu of wedding gifts, the couple organized donations to two different charities so guests could donate an amount that was going to a great cause. The couple handed out Tiff’s Treats as the perfect way to end an already sweet night!

The couple loved the concept of props and wanted to keep it fun and interactive with their guests without overwhelming them with a million choices. We created props that were simple but still allowed guests to show off their personality! For the classy and charming night, we used our marble backdrop and paired a scripted font with a geometric pattern overlay to tie it all together and absolutely loved the look.

 Congratulations to Lauren and Keegan!

Art Dinner at Laguna Gloria

Can we have this night on repeat please?

The Contemporary Austin planned and hosted the Fifth Annual Art Dinner in celebration at Laguna Gloria, one of the dreamiest venues in Austin. Although we may be bias, check out video of the venue here. There were exhibitions by world-renowned artists to display their sculptures and contemporary work, honoring their creativity.

The guests were dressed to the nines in their vibrant elegant attire, as requested by The Contemporary Austin. Every detail from the place setting at dinner to guests broaches and cufflinks were awe-worthy. We wanted to keep the vibrant elegance, and our photo booth was paired with a streamer backdrop provided by The Color Condition and a velvet loveseat. Our set up proves you don’t have to stand for a photo op if you can pair it with well-designed furniture! We added the Art Dinner sponsors along with the logo to the image overlay, which is one of the many perks we offer for sponsors! You can read more about the power of sponsorship on our blog here.

We had the best time with the guests at Laguna Gloria and we’re already looking forward to next year’s dinner. Congratulations to all the recognized artists!

Why You Need a Balloon Installation at Your Next Event

You had no idea you would need balloons in your life this bad, trust us.

We’ve seen a huge trend in adding balloon installations to photo booths and events and we would be lying if we told you we didn’t absolutely love it. The eye catching design and the “how the heck did they do that?” response from event attendees keeps our creative wheels spinning. Each time we do a new install, we’re pushing our creative limits and we keep asking ourselves, “how did we live without balloon installations before?”. However, if you’re not like us and you’re unsure if you want to add a balloon installation to your next event, here are seven reasons why our installs are exactly what you need at your next event.

We created an installation for a birthday party!

We created an installation for a birthday party!

1.     It is unique at any event. An installation will make your event POP (pun intended). It’s not a typical backdrop or installation at an event, it is dramatic and totally wow-worthy. If you’re looking for attendees to stop and gawk at something unique during your event, a balloon installation will guarantee it. You can check out our unique balloon installation at Austin’s Under 40 gala here as well.

2.     It can have multiple uses. At an event in March, we had a client use the balloon installation as a backdrop for photos at their party, and about halfway through the event, they moved the installation to the front door to attract more clientele to come into the venue and keep the party going! So you could say a balloon install will have your party lasting longer and drive more business. You’re welcome.

3.     We can create your dream install. Creating your dream install starts from listening to your theme and what you want at your event. From there we discuss with our designer to match your vision. If you have an idea but it’s hard to describe, we recommend starting with Pinterest (Seriously, how did we live without Pinterest for so long?) and send us images that are your inspiration for your event. We’ll have several proofs to make sure it is cohesive with your inspo, so you’ll know exactly what the installation will look like. Want a whimsical install but unsure what to add to the balloons? We’ll pair your install with some greenery and calligraphic balloons. Looking for a feminine, fresh install for your girlfriend’s bridal shower? Let us add some floral accents to your install. You need an install to pop for your upcoming grand opening? We love adding streamers to our installs to create a unique finish!

4.     Budget friendly. Whether you have a large budget or a small budget, we can create an installation that fits within your bottom line. It may require some creative, outside the box design that you’ve never thought of, but that’s our specialty. We’ll also do our best to save you as much money as possible without sacrificing quality.

5.     Balloons match any themed event. Balloons are a staple at most celebrations, including birthday parties, weddings, gender reveal parties, baby and wedding showers, graduations, grand openings, the list goes on! A balloon installation will go with any event you host. Don’t believe us? Check out all of the different events here and of course where we’ve incorporated different balloon installations in the photos in this post!

6.     It’s Instagram worthy. Because a balloon installation is so unique, you can guarantee that everyone will want to take photos of it but also in front of it. If you’re looking for your event to get a lot of documentation (and brand exposure as corporate client), creating opportunities for your guests to take photos is a must, and a balloon installation is a no-brainer!

Texas Oncology + Dell Match Play

We may not be mathematicians, but here’s an equation we can easily solve:

Empowered women + perfect weather + Dell Match Play = an inspiring event

We spent the afternoon at the Austin Country Club, working with the women of Texas Oncology. They sponsored the event, with their aim to empower women to live their best lives thinking about cancer prevention or living with cancer in a positive light. They provided food, beverages, and a lipstick station for ladies to put on their favorite color of lipstick before taking their photo with us in the photo booth. Snacks and makeup touch ups? Sign us up.

Texas Oncology was inspired by the Living Coral theme, and it allowed us to be creative with our floral designs at our photo booth! We tied in the Pantone Color of Year by creating the word “Living” out of carnations and roses that hung at the top of the backdrop. To make sure the floral installation stood out, we added a lavender backdrop and framed it with greenery to keep it feminine and fresh. Because the backdrop and women were our main focus for the photos, we wanted to keep the overlay simple with Texas Oncology’s logo and their hashtag for the event, #FightCancerLiveCoral.

We loved creating the floral installation for the Texas Oncology team and we’re so happy we could partake in such an encouraging project!

Seven Reasons Why a Photo Booth is the Perfect Addition to Your Wedding

Imagine this moment… the partner of your dreams gets down on one knee. They start telling you how much you mean to them, you’re the love of their life, they can’t live without you. Then comes the big question comes, “Will you marry me?”. You say yes, then your next thought… “Oh I can’t wait to book a photo booth for our big day!”

 That’s how it goes, right?

No, not exactly. But we can dream.

Fast forward several months down the line and you’re planning the details of your reception. When you start thinking about what you want to have at your party, a photo booth seems like a no-brainer. You saw how much fun guests had with the photo booth at your best friend’s wedding last fall, and you know it’s a must-have. However, you want to make sure having a photo booth adds value to your reception, not something that just takes up space in the back corner, and we’re here to help.

Here are six reasons why having a photo booth at your wedding is the perfect addition:

1. It’s the perfect wedding favor from your big day. A photograph from a photo booth is truly a memory from your wedding, unlike a koozie or shot glass that will likely be left at the reception or end up in the junk drawer at home as soon after the big day is over. Photo booth prints are displayed on refrigerators, office desks, in a picture frame, or a background image of a phone. Your wedding reception is now on repeat for all of your guests as they look at the images from your photo booth every day.

2. It’s all-night entertainment for everyone. Although it may be hard to admit, not every person at your wedding will be dancing all night, no matter how many times you play Shape of You by Ed Sheeran. You may also have some guests that aren’t frequenting the bar either. A photo booth is entertainment for your guests without the pressure of needing to have wicked dance moves or liquid courage.

3. Your guests can be themselves. You know those formal photos with the wedding party and family that are taken right after the ceremony? It’s not always appropriate to have your guests or party show off their personality. That’s where a photo booth comes in. They can be goofy and make funny faces with no fear of judgment- because the sillier, the better.

4. A photo booth can glam up an otherwise boring corner of your reception. When you’re planning your reception you want to maximize your space. You’ve got your DJ or stage, tables, dance floor, food and bar, but there’s one corner in your reception hall that doesn’t satisfy your aesthetic. You secretly hope no one will notice the bare and boring corner, but wish you had something to glam up that part of the room. A photo booth with a charming backdrop in that corner will encourage your guests to have fun.

5. Your photographer loves us. You hired your photographer to focus on you for the day, and they won’t have time to take photos of Aunt Susie with every single one of her nieces and nephews. A photo booth will allow all your guests to take photos until they get one they enjoy and will share, all without distracting your photographer.

6. Your guests can share photos instantly. Long gone are the days where your guests have to wait for the photos of the big day to be uploaded, edited and then sent out several weeks later. We live in a world of instant gratification, so all our booths come equipped with digital sharing. As soon as the photo is taken, they can share it through text or email so they can post on social media.

7. It's the perfect way to incorporate your wedding hashtag. A photo booth is the perfect way to incorporate your wedding hashtag. Encourage all guests to post on social media with your hashtag then all their photos from your big day will be in one location! You can also add the hashtag to the bottom of the printed photos to help guests remember your special day. Don't have your wedding hashtag yet? Get yours professionally written by the team at Wedding Hashers!

There are several more reasons why a photo booth is a perfect addition, but we narrowed it down to our top seven. Want to learn more about a photo booth for your party? Email us at hello@ohhappydaybooth.com.

Texas Medal of Arts Awards

An event so big that only Texas can take it on.

The 10th Biennial Texas Medal of Arts Awards is an event where world-famous Texans are recognized and supported through the arts. Since the Awards have started in 2001, they have recognized over 100 leaders and role models “who have achieved greatness through their creative talents, as well as those whose generosity has opened doors to artistic opportunity for Texans of all ages." The honorees are of different backgrounds such as acting, musicians, architecture, fashion design and artists. Some of the influential honorees of this years award ceremony were Boz Scaggs, Matthew McConaughey , Jennifer Holliday, Brandon Maxwell, and Mark Seliger.

This is the second year in a row we’ve had a portrait booth for TMAA; we were so excited to be chosen to be a part of the event again! The event was at The Long Center downtown and the entrance into the event was swoon-worthy. Everything from the red carpet entrance and emerald velvet sitting area to the four string quartet and elegant tastings, we were floored at how every detail came to play at the multi-level event. The photo booth was made available to guests on the Mezzanine level in the lounge, close to the balcony overlooking downtown Austin. We wanted to keep the backdrop simple to keep the guests and their attire the focal point.

If already dreaming of creative ideas for 2021 TMAA is wrong, we don’t want to be right. Congratulations to all the honorees!

Katie & Jamie's Wedding at InterContinental Stephen F. Austin

There was magic in the air for Katie and Jamie’s December wedding.

The couple had their reception at the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin in downtown Austin. During the reception, they did a choreographed dance to Bruno Mars “24 Karat Magic” and had the guests engaged and entertained the entire time. As if the reception wasn’t sweet enough, their wedding cake was a cut to resemble our state’s flag. That’s what we call Texas pride, y’all.

We kept it classy with our portrait booth paired and our gold sequin backdrop. The couple loved the concept of an old school photo booth so we designed the print outs to resemble photo booth strips. The photo booth was packed all night with friends and family documenting their fun. We wish this wedding were on repeat every weekend to relive the enjoyable night!

Congratulations to Katie and Jamie on their big day and marriage!

A Night to inspire | The Settlement Home

There is little we love more than an opportunity to give back to the community. But honoring those that give back is definitely up there!

A Night to Inspire is an evening to honor the Community Youth Council (CYC), which consists of Austin high school students who are committed to giving back to the community as volunteers with The Settlement Home, as stated on their website. These student philanthropists dedicate their time in helping the Austin nonprofit which focuses on serving children in foster care through housing programs.

The event took place at The UT Alumni Center, right in the heart of the University of Texas campus. We wanted our focus to be on the students and attendees, so we chose a backdrop with The Settlement Home logo and a mosaic tile overlay with the word “Inspire” in larger print.

We’re so proud to be part of the same community as these students and we were happy to be part of an event that focused on the difference they’re making!
